Their drunken noodles were very bland, no flavor at all but greasy and greasy. My son ordered spicy combination lo mein and he ended up asking for more sauce to pour in his plate. My hubby's beef fried rice was okay but still not near as good as other places. Eel cucumber roll needed to add more rice and less moisture in the cucumber, all I tasted was soaked cucumbers. Normally a new place has good food, at least for their beginning, but for this one I wasn't impressed with their food at all. Even for their service, we had to wait and look for our waitress. And it was not a busy time at all. Am I planning to go back there? Not at all, at least not intentionally.

I am Chinese and I also ate a lot of Thai food. But i am very skeptical when I see this place open with banner for Chinese, Thai and sushi. What kind of place would have all of these, one has to wonder? I came here for the first time during lunch time today and I ordered panang curry with chicken. I am actually happy with my dish. It is very flavorful and the chicken are tender. The waitress seems very nice as well. The decoration is quite modern and nicely done. It would work for business lunch. I would probabaly come back for other dishes.

Yama Asian Fusion was one of the first tenants of the newly build Forest Green Shopping Center. They have a very visible storefront from Route 40. Since I work nearby, I decided to check it out. The interior of the restaurant is trendy and beautiful. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the meal; everything else was lackluster and mediocre experience. For a restaurant with such a fancy interior, it was kind of strange that their menu was a fancy take-out menu. Of course, it doesn't affect food so I let it pass. The menu was fairly comprehensive, ranging from sushi and sashimi to Chinese food to Thai food. I opted for pad thai, one of my favorite dishes to eat and to make. It is a benchmark dish I use to gauge any new Asian restaurants I go to. My pad thai was a fairly nice size and looked good. However, the taste was a little off. There was a hint of spiciness to the dish. I didn't mind the slight heat, it was also unexpected...the menu didn't mention anything about it. But more importantly, there was a distinct Chinese-food-like taste to the dish. I can't quite describe it other than the fact that I taste it often when eating Chinese food. While the pad thai wasn't bad, it wasn't all that good. Service here was also lacking. Our waitress came by slowly and disappeared for prolonged periods of time. Overall, it was fairly disappointing. Given that there are a lot of Asian offerings in the area within a 10-15 minute drive, Yama had better up their game if they want to stay relevant.

Went here for dinner yesterday because my friends and I wanted to try it out. Decor was nice and clean inside. However, their menu is a piece of glossy paper, kind of like what you'd get as a take out menu. They have thai, chinese and sushi there. A large selection to choose from! Service was fast, which I liked. However, our server did mess up our order. We ordered the walnut shrimp and she gave us grilled peanut shrimp. When we told her about it she kept saying she asked if we wanted this dish and claimed that we said yes. Clearly there was some miscommunication... but she didn't apologize or offer to change it. Food wise, it was definitely not what I was expecting. The pad thai is a fusion of thai and something. They added bell peppers and basil to the pad thai and the noodles were cut up into like 3 inch lengths. The peppered steak with onions had no taste and meat was rough. The peanut shrimp dish was overwhelming with peanut sauce. Overall, I wouldn't go back to this place. There are better places if you want chinese or thai food around there.

The two stars is for how nice the place looked, they spent too much money to have that weird menu and odd service. Our waitress was too over Us and trying to talk us into ordering things we had no intention to order, some space would have been great... Then we ordered a lunch special and a "speciality roll" - Baltimore roll- the crab seemed canned, the roll wasn't good or worth $15 ): we also ordered calamari as a appetizer and got literally 6 pieces of it which I thought was odd. The spicy tuna and the salmon roll was good. A soup came with our meal as stated on the menu under "specialty rolls" and our waitress kept telling us (two times then once again when the check came) that the soup normally costs something but she is giving it to us for free. I hope this place improves, it's location is golden and the atmosphere and ambience is great, just some menu tweaks and service improvements but can't say I'm willing to try again after my experience unfortunately.

This place is pretty new and has a nice clean dining area. The food is a bit overpriced for the portions. It's not the worst food but not the best, ive had better. I had a salmon avocado hand roll, salmon avocado roll, and spicy tuna roll. the portions are very small. there was nothing special about the rolls and sushi but it's definitely not the worst. i would give this place a second chance but would recommend a different place to go to for sushi where you get more for the money.

Beautiful new Asian Fusion restaurant in Ellicott City! The the atmosphere is really nice, ordered takeout online and went in to get it. They even have a private party room that would be perfect for all types of occasions. The gentleman who I spoke with, Alex, was very helpful! I was super excited about this, however, when I got back to my studio I didn't have soy sauce or the spicy mayo that I had asked for several times. That was kind of disappointing after the very pleasant interaction I had while at the restaurant. The sushi was okay, kind of dry, I had asked for Crunchies to be inside the rolls however they were kind of thrown on top. The edamame wasn't completely cooked and didn't have any salt. Will probably have to give it another try and update my review accordingly.

Super delicious 'crab dynamite' roll! There was practically an entire crab cake on top of that thing. Ahi tuna was on point as well. Only complaint is that the drinks were super duper weak. After one sip I asked for another and it was a no go. He wouldn't refund me or trade me. My friends drink was the same. It tasted like pure grenadine! But love everything else. I'm actually craving it right now!

The worst Asian restaurant I've ever had. Waited for long time to get my meal. Waitresses were not professional. Very Small Portion of food and expensive. Even though thai sushi Chinese restaurant, they don't have a lot of choice. Manu looks so cheap and has only two pages. I'll Never come back again.

This is a nothing special Americanized asian food. I was expecting actual fusion food per the name, but alas no fusion foods. They offer sushi, Thai, Chinese carry-out style food. Ordered the Thai tamerin shrimp. Unfortunately not good. 8 pieces of shrimp that were well cooked, too many pineapples and onions accompanied the plate. Also the citrus/butter flavor was too strong without anything savory to balance the plate. A friend ordered the sushi deluxe. Well assorted fish of average quality. The cuts were a good size. The food was a bit over priced considering the other options around EC. Service was good and friendly. The ambience is contemporary modern with potential. Would not return until menu tweaks are made.

I've eaten here twice and loved it both time. Fried Calamari was generous and had huge pieces. For sushi we tried the Sexy Lady Roll. So good! General Tso's Chicken was cooked to perfection. Not too sweet. Drunken Noodles were spicy and good. Thai fried rice was probably my favorite. Really try this place out! They are working out the kinks but it's really very good!

Bad service. The green curry chicken was the worst I have ever had. Same goes for my wife's pad thai. The curry sauce did not taste like thai green curry. The chicken was rubbery and did not taste like chicken... may have gone bad. The manager didn't even seem surprised. We sent the entrees back and got a refund. In the 10 years my wife and I have been together we have never done that. Avoid this place. There are a lot of better restaurants in the area.

Had a great experience. Tried a little chinese, thai and sushi. All of our items were great. Kitchen was a bit backed up so our food was a bit delayed. Still was great. Everything was tasty! Try it out.

Food was not good. I don't know it was just my plate, but my shrimp was NOT COOKED enough. My sister ordered sushi and she said it was just okay, kind-of dry. That was it. I honestly do not want to come back here again because the service we got was HORRIBLE. I have been a lot of restaurants, and this restaurant has the most terrible service. It was very unpleasant and upsetting. We ordered some dumplings. I don't know if they missed or forgot the order, but when I asked for the dumplings, they did not bother to apologize. Rather, they just IGNORED us completely. There were one other group other than us. They were not busy, but they just ignored us. I really DON'T RECOMMEND to go this place. You can get better food, better service with the same amount of the money.

Great addition to the otherwise boring restaurant offerings in the area. The Triple Delight and Pad Thai are both fantastic, the sushi is better than most, and the service is sincere and friendly. I really like the Triple Delight because there is lots of vegetables mixed in with the protein. Drunken Noodles were very good. Relaxed atmosphere. We are really happy to have this place in the neighborhood!

My husband and I have found our new favorite Asian fusion place. When we noticed the opening of this restaurant a few weeks ago, we decided to try it out for lunch. Nice ambiance and very friendly staff. Started out splitting the spicy tuna martini--one of the sushi bar appetizers. Wow... Lots of tasty diced raw tuna tossed in a tangy (but not very spicy) sauce and served in a martini glass with olives and veggie garnishes. Very unique and absolutely scrumptious. They offer a number of Chinese, Thai, and sushi lunch specials (all of which include soup). We split the spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail rolls (choice of two rolls plus soup* is $10). Both were excellent. For my entree, I chose the green curry with chicken, with hot & sour soup. The curry had a nice amount of heat, and the chicken was very tender (I didn't care for the chunks of eggplant in it, but I'm not a fan of eggplant anyway). The soup had great flavor. My husband had the Kung Pao chicken, which was very tasty and had just the right amount of heat. The service we received was excellent--very friendly and attentive. We followed up our first trip to Yama with another delicious lunch there yesterday. Ordered the same tuna martini and rolls as our appetizers (I could seriously eat that martini as my entire lunch...). Hubby ordered the green curry beef as his entree, and I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce. The chicken was labeled hot & spicy (which is why I ordered it), but it wasn't spicy at all. It had good flavor, just wasn't spicy like I prefer. (No worries. I just spooned plenty of hubby's deliciously spicy green curry sauce on some of my rice, and that took care of my spicy craving.) As with our first visit, the service was top notch. Really like this place. Hope they stick around! *Because we each received soup with our entrees--and soup is also included with the lunch special rolls--the woman serving us brought out a small salad instead of another cup of soup. Thought that was a nice touch.

Disappointed. The mango chicken, surf clam sushi, and calamari were below average. My husband didn't even finish his tuna with yellow fish. The price they charge is not worth it.

Pretty place with tasty Thai and sushi selections. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable.

I ordered the curry beef for carryout but end up getting CHICKEN and are they thinking customers are fools? Will never go back and we ate in the restaurant once, did not like their cold service!!

I had a great time there. The service was great and the food OMG!! It was wonderful, I wish my stomach was big enough so I could try more dishes. I recommend the sushi. The chef put great fusion idea into it and they all look pretty, very well decorated. Other than sushi, Chicken pad thai is my favorite. very yummy.

Love this place (White guy from Pittsburgh), wife loves this place (Mainland China) and our little guy (3.5 years old) loves this place. Service is personal and outstanding. We went twice and the food was awesome, and the price was really great for what you get. Great quality food and very good size portions. I had the Sushi sampler my first visit. Really great. Last night I had Thai Green Curry Awesome. My wife had Kung Po chicken first visit and salt and pepper shrimp last night. She loved them both. I stole a little and loved both dishes. Really, really good. Amazing to find great Sushi, Chinese and Thai in the same place. Usually places that serve all three can only really do one well. This place nails all three styles. Now our favorite place for all three! Oh, our little guy had noodles both times and ate a lot. Hard to get a little one to eat but he had his fill. :-) He raves about our waitress, she was really great interacting with him. First thing this morning on the way to pre-school he asked to go back.

Went in expecting fusion cuisine but it's just Chinese food, Thai food, and sushi. And none are fused. Disappointed so my husband and I walked out. They should change their name if they're not cooking fusion!!!!!!

Came here for lunch, looked like a great place I love Thai food. However my coworker and I came in and we were seated and that was it. Sat their for about 8 min Literally and no one helped us. We casually got up walked out and ate across the way at Honey Pig Restaraunt.... By the way this place is great....

DO NOT GET ANY MEAT HERE!!! The only reason why I didn't give this restaurant 1 star is because we had the forest green roll and the spring rolls-those were good. My husband got the triple meat platter and I got the chicken curry.. We're pretty sure they grow their meat out of a petri dish-order at your own risk.

I ordered the sweet potato rolls and they were perfect. The fried sweet potato was still crunchy when it came to the table. I also tried the Drunken Noodles but there was a lack of Thai basil and a lack of spice. I also did not enjoy their blend of green tea. The restaurant is beautiful inside and when the weather is warm their patio area will be nice. The server was very good!

We have been to Yama 4 times now...each time the food and service is reliably excellent. The white tuna appetizer is amazing - great taste sensation in every bite! We've tried noodles, curry, and other dishes. Very, very happy to have such a diverse menu with great food so close to home.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
